Apple Pecan Upside Down Pie
This pie has been the hit of the event every time I make it, easy, beautiful and delicious
4-5 Large Granny Smith Apples peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 stick of melted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 6 oz bag Pecan Halves
1 Pillsbury pie crust (the kind that is rolled in the dairy case)
Mix the melted butter and brown sugar together and pour into bottom of greased pie plate
Place pecan halves in mixture, you will not need the entire bag so use only the pieces that are unbroken
Lay one of the pie crusts over the mixture pressing it firmly against the pecans
Fill with half of the apples
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and pour half over the apples
place the remaining apples and pour the remaining sugar mixture
Place the top pie crust and seal the crusts together, cut a few holes for vents, this will be the bottom of the pie so it won’t matter how it looks.
Bake for about 40 minutes are until top crust is brown.
Here is the really trick to it looking perfect as soon as you take the pie out of the oven immediately set the dish you plan to serve it on, on top of the pie and flip it over. Remove the pie plate and let cool at least one hour.
